En salme av David. Herre, hør min bønn, vend øret til mine inderlige bønner, svar mig i din trofasthet, i din rettferdighet,

og gå ikke i rette med din tjener! For ingen som lever, er rettferdig for ditt åsyn.

For fienden har forfulgt min sjel, han har knust mitt liv til jorden, han har satt mig på mørke steder som de evig døde.

Og min ånd er vansmektet i mig, mitt hjerte er forferdet inneni mig.

Jeg kommer fordums dager i hu, jeg tenker på alt ditt verk, jeg grunder på dine henders gjerning.

Jeg utbreder mine hender til dig, min sjel lenges efter dig som et vansmektende land. Sela.

Skynd dig å svare mig, Herre! Min ånd fortæres; skjul ikke ditt åsyn for mig, så jeg blir lik dem som farer ned i graven!

La mig årle høre din miskunnhet, for til dig setter jeg min lit! Kunngjør mig den vei jeg skal vandre, for til dig opløfter jeg min sjel!

Fri mig fra mine fiender, Herre! Hos dig søker jeg ly.

Lær mig å gjøre din vilje, for du er min Gud! Din gode Ånd lede mig på jevnt land!

For ditt navns skyld, Herre, vil du holde mig i live; i din rettferdighet vil du føre min sjel ut av trengsel,

og i din miskunnhet vil du utrydde mine fiender og ødelegge alle dem som trenger min sjel; for jeg er din tjener.
