Îmi zise: „Fiu al omului, Să Îmi spui tu, dacă ai știre, De este vreo deosebire Între lemnul pădurilor Și între cel al viilor?

Spune-Mi, din vie, cineva Merge să ia vreun lemn, cumva, Pentru a face vreo lucrare? Sau ai văzut tu, vreun om care, Un lemn din vie a luat, Pentr-un cârlig de atârnat?

E bun numai de pus pe foc. După ce arde-al său mijloc Și capetele cele două, La ce vă este el, bun, vouă?

Când era lemn întreg, îți zic Că nu puteați face nimic, Din el. Dar ars fiind, apoi, Ce veți mai face, din el, voi?”

De-aceea, Domnul Dumnezeu Spune: „Iată ce-am să fac Eu: Locuitorii cei pe care Ierusalimul azi îi are, Sunt ca și lemnul cel de vie Care pe foc pus o să fie.

Fața-Mi întorc spre-acel popor Și fi-voi împotriva lor. Iată-i, din flăcări au ieșit, Dar arși vor fi ei, negreșit. De focu-acesta, Eu socot Că o să fie arși, de tot. Fața-Mi întorc spre-acel popor Și fi-voi împotriva lor. În felu-acesta, mai apoi, Că Eu sunt Domnul, veți ști voi.

Țara ajunge-va să fie Doar o întindere pustie, Pentru că ei – necontenit – Necredincioși s-au dovedit.”
