În anul când a venit Tartán la Așdód, trimis de Sargón, regele Asíriei, a luptat împotriva [cetății] Așdód și a cucerit-o;

în acel timp, Domnul a vorbit prin profetul Isaía, fiul lui Ámoț, zicând: „Desfă-ți sacul de pe coapse și dezleagă-ți sandalele de pe picioarele tale!”. Și a făcut așa, umblând gol și desculț.

Domnul a zis: „După cum slujitorul meu Isaía a umblat gol și desculț timp de trei ani, ca semn și prevestire pentru Egipt și pentru Etiópia,

la fel îi va conduce regele Asíriei pe captivii Egiptului și pe deportații Etiópiei, tineri și bătrâni, goi și desculți, pe cei cu coapsele descoperite, rușinea Egiptului.

Atunci se vor îngrozi și se vor rușina de Etiópia, siguranța lor, și de Egipt, mândria lor.
6
Locuitorii coastei vor spune în ziua aceea: «Iată, aici este încrederea noastră spre care am fugit ca să găsim ajutor și să fim salvați de regele Asíriei! Și noi cum vom mai fi salvați?»”.
