În acel timp, Merodác-Baladán, fiul lui Baladán, regele din Babilón, i-a trimis scrisori și un dar lui Ezechía; căci auzise că Ezechía se îmbolnăvise și s-a vindecat.

Ezechía s-a bucurat de ele și apoi le-a arătat trezoreria: argintul, aurul, mirodeniile și untdelemnul cel mai bun, încăperea armelor sale și tot ce se afla în vistieriile lui; n-a fost nimic pe care să nu li-l fi arătat Ezechía în casa lui și în tot regatul lui.

Profetul Isaía a venit la regele Ezechía și i-a zis: „Ce au spus oamenii aceia și de unde au venit la tine?”. Ezechía i-a răspuns: „Au venit la mine dintr-o țară îndepărtată, din Babilón”.

Isaía a zis: Ce au văzut în casa ta?”. Ezechía a răspuns: „Au văzut tot ceea ce este în casa mea: n-a fost nimic pe care să nu li-l fi arătat în vistieriile mele”.

Atunci, Isaía i-a zis lui Ezechía: „Ascultă cuvântul Domnului Sabaót!

«Iată, vin zile când tot ce este în casa ta și ce au adunat părinții tăi până în ziua de azi va fi dus în Babilón: nu va mai rămâne nimic!», zice Domnul.

«Și vor lua dintre fiii tăi, care vor ieși din tine, pe care-i vei naște, și vor fi oameni de curte la palatul regelui din Babilón»”.

Ezechía i-a răspuns lui Isaía: „Este bun cuvântul Domnului pe care l-ai rostit, cum că va fi pace și siguranță în timpul vieții mele ”.
