Modlitba. Mojžiša, Božieho muža. Pane, ty si bol naším útočišťom z pokolenia na pokolenie.

Prv, než sa vrchy zrodili, prv, než vznikla zem a vesmír, od večnosti do večnosti si ty, Bože.

Na tvoj rozkaz ľudia v prach sa obracajú, keď im kážeš: "Vráťte sa späť, deti Adamove!"

Veď tisíc rokov je pre teba ako včerajší deň: prešla nočná stráž a vytrhol si ich.

Sme ako sen nad ránom; ako pučiaca tráva:

za rána sa zelenie a kvitne, podvečer sa skosí a uschýna.

Keď sa nahneváš, hynieme: tvoje rozhorčenie nás zničí.
8
Uprieš svoj pohľad na naše viny, naše tajné hriechy zjavujú sa vo svetle tvojej tváre,

a tak nám dni plynú pod mrakom tvojho hnevu, naše roky tratia sa ako vzdych.

Sotva sedemdesiat rokov je dĺžka nášho života a pre mocnejších osemdesiat, no zväčša sú trápením a námahou, rýchlo sa pominú a my odlietame.

Kto vie zvážiť ťarchu tvojho hnevu a veľkosť tvojho rozhorčenia tak, ako bohabojní ľudia?

Nauč nás dobre využiť dni nášho života, aby sme dosiahli múdrosť!
13
Jahve, vráť sa konečne k nám! Zľutuj sa nad svojimi služobníkmi!
14
Každé ráno nás naplň svojou láskou a budeme plesať a radovať sa po celý život.
15
Daj nám dni radosti za dni utrpenia, za roky, keď nás stíhalo nešťastie.
16
Ukáž svojim sluhom tvoje mocné skutky a ich deťom tvoju veľkú slávu!
17
Nech je s nami priazeň Pána, nášho Boha! Dopraj zdaru našim prácam, daj zdar prácam našich rúk!
