Zakaj, o Gospod, stojiš od daleč, se skrivaš ob časih stiske?

Ko se napihuje brezbožnež, se revež muči, se zapleta v zvijačah, ki si jih je oni izmislil.
3
Zakaj grešnik se baha s svojo strastjo, ropar preklinja, zaničuje Gospoda.
4
V napuhu duha govori brezbožnež: »Ne bo kaznoval; Boga ni!« Táko je njegovo mišljenje.
5
Njegova pota so vsekdar srečna, tvoje sodbe so daleč proč od njegovih misli; iz svojih nasprotnikov se norčuje.
6
V svojem srcu govori: »Ne bom omahnil, od roda do roda ne bom nesrečen.«

Njegova usta so polna kletve, goljufije in zvijače; pod njegovim jezikom je nadloga in muka.

Sedi v zasedi pri selih, na skrivnem ubija nedolžnega. Njegove oči izsledujejo ubožca,

v skrivališču preži kakor lev v svojem brlogu, preži, da zgrabi bednega, ga zgrabi in potegne v svojo mrežo.

Skloni se, pripogne se do tal in po njegovem nasilstvu padajo ubožci.

Govori v svojem srcu: »Bog pozablja, obrnil je proč svoj obraz, ničesar ne vidi.«

Vstani, Gospod Bog, vzdigni svojo roko, nikar ne pozabljaj ubožcev!

Zakaj brezbožnež prezira Boga in govori v svojem srcu: »Ne bo kaznoval«?

Ti pa vidiš nadlogo in žalost, ti gledaš, da jih vzameš v svoje roke: tebi se izroča ubožec, siroti si ti pomočnik!
15
Zdrobi roko grešniku in hudobnežu; kaznuj njegovo hudobijo, da je ne bo več!
16
Gospod je kralj na vekov veke, narodi so izginili iz njegove dežele.
17
Hrepenenje ubogih si spolnil, Gospod, okrepil njih srce, jim milostno prisluhnil,
18
da zavaruješ pravico siroti in stiskanemu, da ne bo več strašil človek, ki je iz zemlje.
