Det var året då generalen som var utsänd av Assyriens kung Sargon kom till Ashdod. Han angrep och intog staden.

Den tiden talade Herren genom Jesaja, Amos son: ”Gå! Och lossa säcktyget från dina höfter och ta av dig sandalerna från fötterna." Han gjorde så och gick naken och barfota.

Och Herren sa: "Liksom min tjänare Jesaja har gått naken och barfota i tre år som ett tecken och förebud om Egypten och Kush,

så ska Assyriens kung leda iväg fångarna från Egypten och de fördrivna från Kush, unga och gamla, barfota och nakna med ändan bar, till vanära för Egypten.
5
Då ska de förfäras och skämmas över Kush, deras hopp, och över Egypten, deras stolthet.
6
Den dagen ska de boende vid denna kust säga: Se hur det gick med vårt hopp, dem vi flydde till för hjälp och räddning från Assyriens kung! Hur ska då vi undkomma?”
