A zenészek vezetőjének, Jedútúnnak: Ászáf zsoltára. Teljes erőmből kiáltok Istenhez segítségért! Istenhez kiáltok, mert meghallgat engem!

Az Urat keresem, mikor bajok vesznek körül, kezeimet egész éjjel hozzá emelem, könyörgök szüntelen. Csak ő tudja megvigasztalni lelkemet!

Istenre emlékezem, róla gondolkodom, imádkozni próbálok, de csak sóhajtozok, és szellemem nyugtalan. Szela

Ébren tartasz, Istenem, nem jön szememre álom, s oly zaklatott vagyok, szólni sem tudok.

Ha gondolkodom a régi időkön, az elmúlt korok napjain,

éjjelente régi énekeimet énekelem újra, szellemem választ keres, és magammal vitatkozom.
7
Végleg elfordult tőlünk az Úr? Már nem kedvel többé?
8
Kiapadt hűsége és szeretete? Nem szól hozzánk többé soha?
9
Véget ért Isten könyörülete? Szánalmát és szeretetét elnyomta haragja? Szela

Azt mondom végül: a Felséges jobb keze megváltozott, s már nem mozdul értünk, ettől félek én!

Pedig jól emlékszem az Örökkévaló csodáira. Emlékszem félelmetes régi tetteire.

Végiggondolom minden tettedet, Örökkévaló, ezekről elmélkedem.

Bizony, minden utad szent, ó, Isten! Senki sem hasonlítható hozzád! Kicsoda olyan hatalmas, mint a mi Istenünk?!

Te vagy az Isten, aki csodákat teszel! Látta is minden nép hatalmadat!

Megmentetted karoddal népedet: Jákób és József gyermekeit! Szela

Láttak téged a vizek, Isten, és remegtek a félelemtől! Még a nagy mélységek is felkavarodtak.
17
Sűrű fellegekből záporeső hullott, dörgött az ég, s villámaid nyilai cikáztak.
18
Mennydörgő hangod hallatszott a forgószélben, megvilágítottad a földet villámaiddal, remegett és reszketett a föld.
19
Átmentél a tengeren, Isten, átkeltél a mély vizeken, de lépteid nem hagytak nyomot!
20
Vezetted népedet, mint a nyájat, Mózes és Áron kezével!
