Lai nāk pie tevis mana lūgšana! Ieklausies manā brēcienā!

Sāta nelaimēm mana dvēsele, un mana dzīvība šeolam tuvu!

Tiem es pieskaitīts, kam nogrimt bedrē, pie tādiem, kas nezina, kā sev līdzēt,

starp miroņiem palaists brīvā, tāds kā nokautie, kas guļ kapā, kurus tu neatceries vairs, kas šķirti no tavas rokas!

Tu iesviedi mani bedres dziļumos, dzelmes tumšajos kambaros,

man uzgul tavs naids, visas tavas bangas mani dragā.

Tu esi atrāvis paziņas no manis, darījis mani par riebekli viņiem – ieslēgts, nevaru izlauzties!

Acs man ciešanās izīgst, saucu tevi, Kungs, ik dienas, stiepju pret tevi savas plaukstas!

Vai miroņiem tu brīnumus darīsi, vai ēnas celsies slavināt tevi?
12
Vai kapā klāstīs par tavu žēlastību, par tavu uzticību teiks pazušanā?
13
Vai tumsā uzzinās tavus brīnumus, tavu taisnību – aizmirstības zemē?

Bet es – uz tevi, Kungs, brēcu, no rīta mana lūgšana tavā priekšā.

Kādēļ, Kungs, tu atmet mani, kādēļ slēp savu vaigu no manis?

Es nabaga vārgulis kopš jaunām dienām, bailēs no tevis es stīvs,
17
pāri man drāžas tavu dusmu svelme, tavas briesmas iznīdē mani,
18
kā ūdens tās vislaik ap mani liecas, tās kļaujas pār mani!
19
Tu atrauj man draugus, kaimiņus un manus paziņas – tik tumsa!
