ആസാഫിന്റെ ഒരു സങ്കീര്ത്തനം. [1] ദൈവം യിസ്രായേലിന്, നിര്മ്മലഹൃദയമുള്ളവര്ക്കു തന്നെ, നല്ലവന് ആകുന്നു നിശ്ചയം.

എന്നാൽ എന്റെ കാലുകള് ഏകദേശം ഇടറി; എന്റെ കാലടികള് ഏറെക്കുറെ വഴുതിപ്പോയി.

ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ സൗഖ്യം കണ്ടിട്ട് എനിക്ക് അഹങ്കാരികളോട് അസൂയതോന്നി.
4
അവര്ക്കു വേദന ഒട്ടുമില്ലല്ലോ; അവരുടെ ദേഹം തടിച്ചുരുണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

അവര് മര്ത്യരെപ്പോലെ കഷ്ടത്തിൽ ആകുന്നില്ല; മറ്റു മനുഷ്യരെപ്പോലെ ബാധിക്കപ്പെടുന്നതുമില്ല.

ആകയാൽ ഡംഭം അവര്ക്കു മാലയായിരിക്കുന്നു; ബലാൽക്കാരം വസ്ത്രംപോലെ അവരെ ചുറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

അവരുടെ കണ്ണുകള് പുഷ്ടികൊണ്ട് ഉന്തിനില്ക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിലെ നിരൂപണങ്ങള് കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകുന്നു.
8
അവര് പരിഹസിച്ചു ദുഷ്ടതയോടെ ഭീഷണി പറയുന്നു; ഉന്നതഭാവത്തോടെ സംസാരിക്കുന്നു.
9
അവര് വായ് ആകാശത്തോളം ഉയര്ത്തുന്നു; അവരുടെ നാവ് ഭൂമിയിൽ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നു.

അതുകൊണ്ട് അവന് തന്റെ ജനത്തെ ഇതിലേക്കു തിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് ധാരാളം വെള്ളം വലിച്ചു കുടിക്കുന്നു.

ദൈവം എങ്ങനെ അറിയുന്നു? അത്യുന്നതന് അറിവുണ്ടോ? എന്ന് അവര് പറയുന്നു.
12
ഇങ്ങനെ ആകുന്നു ദുഷ്ടന്മാര്; അവര് നിത്യം സ്വസ്ഥത അനുഭവിച്ചു സമ്പത്തു വര്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

എന്നാൽ ഞാന് എന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ ശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചതും എന്റെ കൈകളെ കുറ്റമില്ലായ്മയിൽ കഴുകിയതും വ്യര്ഥമത്രേ.

ഞാന് ഇടവിടാതെ ബാധിതനായിരുന്നു; ഉഷസ്സുതോറും ദണ്ഡിക്കപ്പെട്ടും ഇരുന്നു.

ഞാന് ഇങ്ങനെ സംസാരിപ്പാന് വിചാരിച്ചെങ്കിൽ ഇതാ, ഞാന് നിന്റെ മക്കളുടെ തലമുറയോടു ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു.

ഞാന് ഇതു ഗ്രഹിപ്പാന് നിരൂപിച്ചപ്പോള് എനിക്കു പ്രയാസമായി തോന്നി;
17
ഒടുവിൽ ഞാന് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തിൽ ചെന്ന് അവരുടെ അന്തം എന്താകും എന്നു ചിന്തിച്ചു.
18
നിശ്ചയമായി നീ അവരെ വഴുവഴുപ്പിൽ നിറുത്തുന്നു; നീ അവരെ നാശത്തിൽ തള്ളിയിടുന്നു.
19
എത്ര ക്ഷണത്തിൽ അവര് ശൂന്യമായിപ്പോയി! അവര് മെരുള്ച്ചകളാൽ അശേഷം മുടിഞ്ഞുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു.
20
ഉണരുമ്പോള് ഒരു സ്വപ്നത്തെപ്പോലെ കര്ത്താവേ, നീ ഉണരുമ്പോള് അവരുടെ രൂപത്തെ തുച്ഛീകരിക്കും.
21
ഇങ്ങനെ എന്റെ ഹൃദയം വ്യസനിക്കയും എന്റെ അന്തരംഗത്തിൽ കുത്തുകൊള്ളുകയും ചെയ്തപ്പോള്
22
ഞാന് പൊട്ടനും ഒന്നും അറിയാത്തവനും ആയിരുന്നു; നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ മൃഗംപോലെ ആയിരുന്നു.
23
എന്നിട്ടും ഞാന് എപ്പോഴും നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; നീ എന്നെ വലംകൈക്കു പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
24
നിന്റെ ആലോചനയാൽ നീ എന്നെ നടത്തും; പിന്നത്തേതിൽ മഹത്ത്വത്തിലേക്ക് എന്നെ കൈക്കൊള്ളും.
25
സ്വര്ഗത്തിൽ എനിക്ക് ആരുള്ളൂ? ഭൂമിയിലും നിന്നെയല്ലാതെ ഞാന് ഒന്നും ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ല.

എന്റെ മാംസവും ഹൃദയവും ക്ഷയിച്ചുപോകുന്നു; ദൈവം എന്നേക്കും എന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ പാറയും എന്റെ ഓഹരിയും ആകുന്നു.
27
ഇതാ, നിന്നോട് അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നവര് നശിച്ചുപോകും; നിന്നെ വിട്ടു പരസംഗം ചെയ്യുന്ന എല്ലാവരെയും നീ സംഹരിക്കും.

എന്നാൽ ദൈവത്തോട് അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നത് എനിക്കു നല്ലത്; നിന്റെ സകല പ്രവൃത്തികളെയും വര്ണിക്കേണ്ടതിനു ഞാന് യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിനെ എന്റെ സങ്കേതമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
