第三十年 四月初五，我跟流亡的 猶太 人住在 巴比倫 的 迦巴魯河 邊。那時天開了，我看見上帝的異象。

這件事發生在 約雅斤 王被擄後第五年。

我— 布西 的兒子祭司 以西結 —在 巴比倫 的 迦巴魯河 邊聽見上主向我說話，並且感受到他的能力充滿我。
4
我觀望，看見暴風從北方颳來；有閃電從一堆雲層裡閃出，雲層四周非常光亮，好像銅一般發亮。
5
我看見暴風中央有四個活物：他們形狀像人，
6
但是各有四張臉，四隻翅膀。
7
他們的腿筆直，腳蹄像牛蹄，都像擦亮了的銅發光。
8
除了各有四張臉，四隻翅膀，他們還有四隻人的手，各在每隻翅膀下面。
9
各活物都向外伸出一對翅膀，彼此連接，成四方形，移動的時候一起移動，不必轉身。
10
四個活物各有四張臉：前面的像人，右邊的像獅，左邊的像牛，後面的像鷹。
11
他們各有一對翅膀往上展開，跟鄰近的翅膀連接，又有另一對翅膀遮蓋自己的身體。
12
各活物的臉向著四方，所以能隨意一起移動，不必轉身。
13
四個活物中間有東西像 燃燒著的火炭，像火炬不斷地移動；火炬冒出火焰，發出閃光。
14
活物前後飛奔，像閃電一樣快。
15
我正在觀察四活物的時候，看見各活物的邊上 都有一個輪子觸地。
16
四個輪子的形狀相同，都像寶石閃閃發光。每一個輪子邊上另有一個輪子，彼此直角相切；
17
這樣，四個輪子能夠向任何方向移動，不必轉身。
18
整個輪圈上有許許多多眼睛。
19
四個活物移動，四個輪子隨著移動；活物離開地面，輪子隨著離開地面。
20
活物要到哪裡，輪子就往那裡，因為活物控制著輪子。
21
因此，每當活物移動，停止，或離開地面，輪子就跟著移動，停止，或離開地面。
22
四個活物頭上有東西像是用耀眼的水晶做的圓頂。
23
在圓頂下面站著這四個活物；他們各伸出一對翅膀，跟鄰近的翅膀連接，又有另一對翅膀遮蓋自己的身體。
24
我聽見他們飛翔時翅膀所發出的聲音；那聲音好像大海在澎湃，也像大軍在吶喊，又像全能上帝的聲音。他們停止飛翔就把翅膀摺起來，
25
但是仍然有響聲從他們頭上的圓頂傳來。
26
圓頂上面有一座像是用藍寶石造的寶座；上面坐著的彷彿是人。
27
我看見他的腰部以上好像是擦亮了的銅，裡外都好像是火；他的腰部以下像火，四圍都發光。
28
這光彩跟彩虹一樣。這就是顯明上主臨在的光輝。 我一看見這景象就俯伏在地上。接著，我聽見一個聲音；
