Això diu el Senyor: «Vénen aigües del nord, són un torrent desbordat, inunden el país i tot el que hi ha, les ciutats i els qui hi viuen. La gent crida auxili, clamen els habitants del país

quan senten el galop dels cavalls, el brogit dels carros i l’estrèpit de les rodes. Els pares no gosen mirar els fills, els fallen les forces

quan veuen arribar el dia que destruirà tots els filisteus, que privarà Tir i Sidó de tot auxili dels aliats. El Senyor devastarà els filisteus, la resta de l’illa de Caftor.

A Gaza es rapen en senyal de dol, Ascaló ha quedat silenciosa. Vosaltres, que sou la resta dels anaquites, fins quan us fareu incisions?

“Ai! El Senyor ja té l’espasa! Espasa, quan t’aturaràs? Torna a la beina, descansa i estigues quieta.

Però com et podries aturar?” El Senyor li ha donat ordres sobre Ascaló i la costa del mar: allà l’ha convocada.»
