Modlitba Mojžiša, muža Božieho. Pane, ty si nám bol príbytkom z pokolenia na pokolenie.

Prv ako boly splodené vrchy, a prv ako si roditeľsky sformoval zem a okruh sveta, od veku na vek si ty silný Bôh!

Pôsobíš to, aby sa smrteľný človek biedny navrátil až do prachu, a hovoríš: Navráťte sa, synovia človeka!

Lebo tisíc rokov je v tvojich očiach ako včerajší deň, keď pominul, a jako stráž vnoci.

Splavuješ ich ako povodeň; sú jako sen; za rána sú jako tráva, ktorá mizne.

Toho istého rána, ktorého kvitne, sa mení; večer ju zotnú, a uschne.
7
Lebo hynie od tvojho hnevu a sme predesení tvojou prchlivosťou.
8
Položil si naše neprávosti pred seba, naše tajnosti do svetla svojej tvári.
9
Lebo všetky naše dni idú ta pre tvoj búrlivý hnev; končíme svoje roky jako reč.

Dní našich rokov je v tom sedemdesiat rokov, a keď je niekto silnejšieho prirodzenia, trvá osemdesiat rokov, a to ich najlepšie, na čo býva človek hrdý, je únavná práca a márnosť; lebo sa rýchle pominie, a my ta zaletíme.

Ale kto zná silu tvojho hnevu, a že jaká je tvoja bázeň, taký je aj tvoj búrlivý hnev?

Nauč nás tak počítať naše dni, aby sme uvodili múdrosť do srdca.

Navráť sa, Hospodine! Až dokedy? - A zľutuj sa nad svojimi služobníkmi!
14
Nasýť nás hneď ráno svojou milosťou, a budeme plesať a radovať sa po všetky svoje dni.
15
Obveseľ nás podľa dní, v ktorých si nás trápil, podľa rokov, v ktorých sme videli zlé.
16
Nech sa vidí pri tvojich služobníkoch tvoje dielo a tvoja sláva nad ich synmi!
17
Nech je ľúbeznosť Pána, našeho Boha, nad nami, a upevni dielo našich rúk u nás! Prosíme, upevni dielo našich rúk!
