(3) Jusson eléd imádságom, fordítsd füledet esedezéseimhez!

(4) Mert betelt a lelkem nyomorúsággal, és életem a sírig jutott.

(5) Hasonló lettem a sírba szállókhoz, olyan vagyok, mint az erejét vesztett férfi.

(6) A holtak közt van a helyem, mint a megölteknek, akik a sírban fekszenek, akikről többé nem emlékezel meg, és akiket kiengedtél a kezedből.

(7) Mély sírba vetettél engem, mélységes sötétségbe.

(8) Haragod rám nehezedett, és minden hullámod átcsapott fölöttem. [Szela]

(9) Elszakítottad tőlem ismerőseimet, utálatossá tettél előttük, beszorítottál, és nem jöhetek ki.

(10) Szemem elgyengült a nyomorúság miatt, hozzád kiáltottam, URam, mindennap, és kitártam feléd kezemet.

(11) Vajon teszel-e csodát a holtakkal? Fölkelnek-e az árnyak, hogy magasztaljanak téged? [Szela]

(12) Beszélnek-e a sírban kegyelmedről, hűségedről a pusztulás helyén?

(13) Meglátják-e csodáidat a sötétségben és igazságodat a feledés földjén?

(14) De én hozzád esdeklek, URam, és jó reggel eléd jut imádságom.

(15) Miért vetsz hát el, URam, engem, és miért rejted el arcodat előlem?

(16) Nyomorult és halálos beteg vagyok ifjúságomtól fogva, rettentésedet hordozom, és roskadozom.

(17) Izzó haragod járt át, szorongatásaid elemésztettek engem.

(18) Egész nap körülvesznek, mint az árvizek, teljesen körülfognak engem.

(19) Elszakítottad tőlem szeretteimet és barátaimat; már csak a sötétség a társam.
