Gef eigi oss, Drottinn, eigi oss heldur þínu nafni dýrðina sakir miskunnar þinnar og trúfesti.

Hví skyldu þjóðirnar segja: „Hvar er Guð þeirra?“

Guð vor er á himni, allt sem honum þóknast gerir hann.
4
Skurðgoð þeirra eru silfur og gull, handaverk manna.

Þau hafa munn en tala ekki, augu en sjá ekki.

Þau hafa eyru en heyra ekki, nef en finna enga lykt.

Þau hafa hendur en þreifa ekki, fætur en ganga ekki, úr barka þeirra kemur ekkert hljóð.
