Āsāfa dziesma pamācībai. Dievs, kādēļ tu atmeti mūs uz mūžu? Kādēļ tavas dusmas sveļas pret avīm tavās ganībās?

Atceries savu draudzi, ko jau sen esi izraudzījies, cilti, ko glābi sev par mantojumu, Ciānas kalnu, kur esi apmeties!

Steidzies uz bezgalīgajām drupām – svētnīcā visu sagrāvis naidnieks!

Rēkdami ienāca pretinieki tavā svētvietā! Savas zīmes tie lika tur par zīmi!

Likās, tie paceļ augstu cirvjus – un iekšā koku biežņā!

Un tad visus grebumus ar cirtņiem un veseriem sadragāja,
7
piegrūda uguni tavai svētnīcai, līdz pamatiem sagānīja tava vārda mājvietu,
8
tie teica sev sirdī: visu nomīdīsim! – tie nodedzināja Dieva vietas visā zemē.

Nevienu zīmi vairs neredzam, un vairs nav praviešu – neviena, kas zinātu, cik ilgi vēl?

Cik ilgi, Dievs, gānīsies naidnieks? Vai mūžam pretinieks pulgos tavu vārdu?

Kādēļ tu atturi savu roku? Velc labo roku no azotes un iznīdē viņus!

Dievs, mans Valdniek kopš senām dienām, zemes vidū, mūs glābdams, tu pūlies,
13
tu satrieci jūru ar savu spēku, uz ūdeņiem sadragāji pūķu galvas,
14
tu sašķaidīji leviatāna galvas, izbaroji to tuksneša iemītniekiem,
15
tu izšķēli no zemes avotus un strautus, tu izsusināji neizsīkstošas upes,
16
tev pieder diena un tev – nakts, tu noliki mēnesi spīdēt un sauli,
17
tu noteici visas zemes robežas, vasaru un ziemu tu darināji!

Atceries – naidnieks gāna tevi, Kungs, un nelgu tauta pulgo tavu vārdu.
19
Neatmet plēsoņām savas ūbeles dvēseli, savu nabagu dzīvības neatdod aizmirstībai!
20
Sargā derību! – jo pilni ir zemes tumšie kambari, varmācības mitekļi!
21
Nepamet apspiesto kaunā, lai nabaga grūtdieņi slavē tavu vārdu!
22
Celies, Dievs, iztiesā savu tiesu! Atceries, nelgas allaž peļ tevi,
23
neaizmirsti, ka tavi naidnieki brēkā, bez mitas rēc tie, kas dumpo pret tevi!
