Kas mājo Visuaugstā paspārnē un apmeties Visuvarenā ēnā,

saka Kungam: mans patvērum un mans cietoksni, mans Dievs, uz ko es paļaujos!

Viņš glābs tevi no putnu ķērāja cilpas, no mēra posta,

ar savu spārnu galiem viņš apklās tevi, un zem viņa spārniem tu patversies, kā vairogs tevi sargās viņa patiesība.

Nebaidies no nakts šausmām, ne bultas, kas lido dienā,

ne mēra, kas tumsā staigā, ne sērgas, kas uzbrūk dienvidū!

Lai krīt tūkstotis tev blakus un desmit tūkstoši pa labi no tevis, bet tevi tas neskars –

tik acīm tu raudzīsies, kā ļaundariem atmaksāts, to tu ieraudzīsi!

Tiešām tu, Kungs, esi mans patvērums! Tev, kas izrauga Visuaugsto par savu mājokli,

tev negadīsies nekas ļauns, nedz tuvosies sērga tavai teltij,
11
jo viņš saviem vēstnešiem pavēlēs par tevi – sargāt tevi visos tavos ceļos!
12
Savās plaukstās tie tevi pacels, lai nepiesitas pie akmens tev kāja!
13
Uz lauvām un odzēm tu mīsi, tu sabradāsi jaunos lauvas un čūskas!
14
Viņš pieķēries man, un es paglābšu viņu, es pasargāšu viņu, jo viņš zina manu vārdu,
15
viņš sauc mani, un es viņam atbildēšu, ar viņu es posta brīdī, es izglābšu viņu un celšu godā,
16
es došu viņam ilgu mūžu un rādīšu viņam savu pestīšanu!
