Kvifor er du så langt borte, ¬Herre, kvifor løyner du deg ¬i trengselstider?

Dei gudlause jagar ¬i sitt hovmod ein stakkar, men vert sjølve fanga ¬med dei knep dei fann på.
3
Den gudlause skryter ¬av si grådige lyst, den griske forbannar ¬og vanvørder Herren.
4
Den gudlause seier ¬med hovmodig mine: «Han krev meg ikkje ¬til rekneskap! Det finst ingen Gud.» Så tenkjer han alltid.
5
Han har lukka med seg ¬i alt han gjer; dine domar er altfor høge ¬for han. Han blæs ¬åt alle sine motstandarar.
6
Han seier med seg sjølv: «Eg skal ikkje rikkast, og aldri skal eg lida naud.»
7
Hans munn er full ¬av forbanning, full av svik og vald; han har urett ¬og vondskap på tunga.
8
Han ligg på lur ved gardane og drep i løynd den skuldlause. Han speidar etter ¬sitt verjelause offer;
9
han ligg på lur ¬som løva i krattet og vil gripa stakkaren ¬frå sitt bakhald, fanga han og ta han i garnet.
10
Han dukkar seg ned ¬og krøkjer seg saman, og den verjelause fell ¬for hans overmakt.
11
«Gud gløymer,» ¬seier han med seg sjølv, «han løyner sitt andlet ¬og ser aldri.»
12
Reis deg, Herre! Lyft di hand, Gud, gløym ikkje dei hjelpelause!

Kvifor skal dei gudlause ¬vanvørda Gud og seia med seg sjølve: «Du krev ikkje til rekneskap?»
14
Du ser både møde og sorg, du ser det alt ¬og tek det i di hand. Den verjelause ¬kan gje seg over til deg, for du er ein hjelpar ¬for farlause.
15
Bryt armen på den ¬som er gudlaus og vond, krev han til rekneskap ¬for hans gudløyse, så ho ikkje må finnast meir.
16
Herren er konge ¬for evig og alltid, framande folk ¬skal rydjast ut or hans land.
17
Herre, du høyrer ¬kva dei hjelpelause ynskjer, du vender øyra til ¬og gjev dei mot.
18
Dei som er farlause og trælka, hjelper du til deira rett. Menneske som er av jorda, skal ikkje lenger valda redsle.
