Dei kjem att kvar kveld; dei hyler som hundar og fer ikring i byen.

Høyr, kor dei brukar munn, lippene deira er som sverd. Er det nokon som høyrer?

Men du, Herre, ler åt dei, du spottar alle folkeslag.

Eg vil akta på deg, ¬min styrke; Gud er mi faste borg.

Min Gud møter meg ¬med si miskunn, han lèt meg sjå ¬at mine fiendar fell.

Drep dei ikkje, så mitt folk ikkje gløymer det! Bruk makt, ¬så dei må flakka ikring, og støyt dei ned, Herre, ¬du vårt skjold!

Kvart ord dei tek i sin munn, ¬er synd. Lat dei fangast ¬i sitt eige hovmod fordi dei fer ¬med forbanning og lygn.

Gjer ende på dei i din harme, gjer ende på dei, ¬så dei vert til inkjes. Då skal folket skjøna at det er Gud som rår i Jakob, ja, radt til heimsens ende.

Dei kjem att kvar kveld; dei hyler som hundar og fer ikring i byen.

Dei flakkar om, vil finna mat, og knurrar ¬når dei ikkje vert mette.
17
Men eg vil syngja om di makt og jubla kvar morgon ¬over din truskap. For meg har du vorte ei borg, ei tilflukt den dag eg er i naud.
18
Eg vil syngja for deg, ¬min styrke; for Gud er mi faste borg, min Gud som viser miskunn.
