Herre, tukta mig inte i din vrede, straffa mig inte i din harm!

Dina pilar har trängt in i mig och din hand vilar tung på mig.
4
Ingenting är helt på min kropp för din vredes skull, ingenting är friskt i mig för mina synders skull.
5
Min skuld har växt mig över huvudet, den är en börda, för tung för mig.

Mina sår stinker och varas för min dårskaps skull.
7
Jag är krokig och böjd, dagen lång går jag sörjande.
8
Höfterna brinner av smärta, ingenting är helt i min kropp.
9
Jag är kraftlös och krossad, jag skriker ut mitt hjärtas jämmer.

Herre, du känner min längtan, mina suckar når fram till dig.
11
Mitt hjärta bultar, mina krafter sviker, mina ögons ljus har slocknat.
12
Mina vänner och grannar skyr min plåga, mina närmaste håller sig borta.
13
De som står efter mitt liv gillrar fällor, de som vill mig ont förtalar mig och tänker ständigt på svek.
14
Jag är lik en döv som ingenting hör, en stum som inte öppnar sin mun.

Jag är lik en man som inte hör, en som inte kan svara.
16
Men, Herre, jag hoppas på dig, du skall svara mig, Herre, min Gud.
17
Jag är rädd att de skall skratta åt mig, de som hånar mig när jag snavar.

Ty jag är nära att stupa, jag är ständigt plågad.
19
Jag bekänner min skuld, jag sörjer över min synd.
20
Fiender utan orsak har jag många, talrika är de som hatar mig utan skäl.

De lönar gott med ont, de är emot mig för att jag sökt det goda.
22
Överge mig inte, Herre, min Gud, dröj inte långt borta!
23
Skynda till min hjälp, Herre, du min räddning!
