För körledaren. Av David, en psalm.

Länge väntade jag på Herren, och han böjde sig ner till mig och hörde mitt rop.
3
Han drog mig upp ur fördärvets grop, ur slam och dy. Han ställde mig på fast mark, mina steg gjorde han trygga.
4
Han lade en ny sång i min mun, en lovsång till vår Gud. Många skall se det och bäva och sätta sin lit till Herren.
5
Lycklig den som litar fast på Herren och inte vänder sig till de trotsiga och dem som avfaller till lögnens makter.

Stora är de ting du har gjort, dina under, Herre, min Gud, och dina planer med oss. Ingen kan mäta sig med dig. Jag vill tala och berätta om dem, men de är fler än jag kan räkna.

Slaktoffer och matoffer önskar du inte, du har lärt mig att lyssna. Brännoffer och syndoffer begär du inte,

därför säger jag: Jag är här. I bokrullen står vad jag skall göra.
9
Gärna gör jag din vilja, min Gud, jag har din lag i mitt hjärta.

Jag bär bud om din trofasta hjälp till den stora tempelskaran. Jag håller inte tillbaka mina ord, det vet du, Herre.
11
Jag tiger inte om din hjälp, att du är trofast och räddar förkunnar jag. Jag döljer inte din godhet och trohet för den stora tempelskaran.
12
Du, Herre, håller inte tillbaka din barmhärtighet mot mig, din godhet och din trohet skall alltid bevara mig.
13
Jag hotas från alla håll av olyckor utan tal. Mina synder har hunnit upp mig, jag förmår inte se dem. De är fler än håren på mitt huvud, och modet sviker mig.
14
Jag ber dig, Herre, befria mig! Herre, skynda till min hjälp!
15
Skam och smälek må drabba alla som vill beröva mig livet. Låt dem vika tillbaka med vanära, de som vill mig ont.
16
Må de rysa av skam, de som nu skrattar hånfullt åt mig.
17
Men alla som kommer till dig skall jubla av glädje över dig. De som längtar efter din hjälp skall alltid säga: »Herren är stor.«
18
Jag är betryckt och fattig. Herre, skynda till mig! Min hjälp och min räddare är du. Min Gud, dröj inte!
