Den som bor i den Högstes skydd och vilar i den Väldiges skugga,

han säger: »Herren är min tillflykt och min borg, min Gud som jag förtröstar på.«

Han räddar dig från jägarens nät och från den förhärjande pesten.
4
Han täcker dig med sina vingar, under dem finner du tillflykt, hans trofasthet är en sköld och ett bålverk.
5
Du behöver inte frukta nattens fasor eller pilen som flyger om dagen,

inte pesten som smyger i dunklet eller farsoten som härjar i middagshettan.
7
Tusen kan falla bredvid dig, ja, tiotusen vid din sida, men du skall inte drabbas.
8
Du skall själv få bevittna hur de gudlösa får sitt straff.
9
Din tillflykt är Herren, du har gjort den Högste till ditt värn.
10
Inget ont skall drabba dig, ingen olycka komma nära ditt hus.
11
Han skall befalla sina änglar att skydda dig var du än går.
12
De bär dig på sina händer, så att du inte stöter foten mot någon sten.
13
Över lejon och ormar går du fram, du trampar på vilddjur och drakar.
14
Han håller fast vid mig, och jag räddar honom, jag skyddar honom, ty han känner mitt namn.
15
Han åkallar mig, och jag svarar honom, jag är med honom i nöden, jag befriar honom och ger honom ära.
16
Jag skall mätta honom med ett långt liv och låta honom erfara min hjälp.
