Oracle sobre Moab: Sí, en una sola nit, Ar de Moab fou des-truïda; devastada en una sola nit! Sí, en una sola nit, Quir de Moab fou destruï-da; devastada en una sola nit!

Ha pujat al santuari i a Divon, als llocs alts, a plorar; Moab es lamenta sobre Nebó i sobre Medebà: tots els caps són rapats, i totes les barbes, afaitades.

Pels carrers van vestits de sac, dalt dels terrats i per les places tots es lamen-ten desfets en plors.
4
Heixbon i Elalé alcen el clam; fins a Jahas s’escolta el seu crit. Per això els guerrers de Moab xisclen, amb l’ànima profundament commoguda.
5
El meu cor clama per Moab; els seus fugitius arriben a Sóar, a Eglat-Xelixià. Van plorant per la pujada de Luhit; pel camí d’Horonaim llancen crits de dolor.

Les fonts de Nimrim s’han assecat i l’herbei és ressec, l’herba no creix i el verd no existeix.

Per això tot el que han pogut recollir, junt amb les seves reserves, s’ho em-porten més enllà del torrent dels Salzes.

El seu clam va recorrent el territori de Moab, els planys arriben a Eglaim, i fins a Beer-Elim els seus laments.

Si bé les aigües de Dimon van plenes de sang, encara afegiré més mals da-munt d’ell: uns lleons sobre els qui es-capin de Moab; i també sobre els qui es quedin al país.
