Beneeix el Senyor, ànima meva! Senyor, Déu meu, que n’ets de gran! Et revesteixes d’esplendor i majestat,
2
cobert de llum com un mantell. Desplegues el cel com un tendal,
3
has dreçat per damunt les aigües els teus estatges superiors. Prens els núvols per carrossa, et mous sobre les ales dels vents;
4
els vents et fan de missatgers, i els focs abrusadors de ministres teus.
5
Vas assentar la terra sobre els seus suports, incommovible per sempre més.
6
La vas cobrir amb l’oceà, com si fos un cobertor; les aigües colgaven les muntanyes.
7
A una ordre teva emprengueren la fugida, al so del teu tro es precipitaren,
8
saltant per les muntanyes, avall, cap a les valls, al lloc que els vas assignar:
9
al límit que vas determinar que no traspassin, perquè no tornessin a cobrir la terra.
10
Fas brollar les fonts cap als torrents, que s’escorren entre les muntanyes;
11
s’hi abeuren tots els animals del camp, els ases salvatges hi apaguen la set;
12
els ocells del cel fan el niu a les seves ribes, fan sentir la seva cantadissa dins la fronda.
13
Des dels seus estatges superiors rega les muntanyes, la terra queda saturada amb el fruit de les seves obres.
14
Fas créixer l’herbei per al bestiar i les plantes per a les necessitats de l’home, a fi que de la terra en tregui el pa
15
i el vi que alegra el cor de l’home, l’oli que li fa lluir la cara, el pa que hi enforteix la vida.
16
S’engrosseixen els arbres del Senyor, els cedres del Líban que ell plantà.
17
Allà hi fan niu els ocells, la cigonya fa l’estada als seus cims;
18
les muntanyes elevades són per als isards, els penyals són refugi dels conills.
19
Vas posar la lluna per a determinar els temps, el sol sap quan s’ha de pondre;
20
estens la fosca i cau la nit, llavors ronden totes les bèsties de la selva;
21
els lleons rugeixen per la presa, demanant a Déu el seu menjar.
22
Tot just surt el sol es retiren i van a jaure als seus cataus,
23
L’home surt cap a la seva feina, a la seva tasca fins que és fosc.
24
Que en són de grans, Senyor, les teves obres! Totes les has fetes amb saviesa; la terra és plena de les teves cria-tures.
25
Heus aquí el mar, tan gran i extens, on pul·lulen innombrables sers vivents, animals grans i petits.
26
Per allí naveguen els vaixells, el Leviatan, que vas crear perquè hi jugués.
27
Tots ells esperen de tu que els donis el menjar al seu moment.
28
Quan els el dónes, l’arrepleguen; obres la teva mà i s’atipen del bo i millor.
29
Si amagues la teva faç, s’espaor-deixen. Si els retires l’alè, expiren i retornen a la pols.
30
Si envies el teu alè, són creats, i es renova la faç de la terra.
31
Que la glòria del Senyor sigui perpètua, que s’alegri el Senyor amb la seva creació!
32
Quan ell mira la terra, aquesta tre-mola; toca les muntanyes, i fumegen.
33
Cantaré al Senyor tota la vida, entonaré salms al meu Déu mentre existeixi.
34
Que la meva meditació li sigui agradable; jo m’alegraré en el Senyor.
35
Que siguin eliminats de la terra els pecadors, i deixin d’existir els malvats. Beneeix el Senyor, ànima meva! Al·leluia!
