(Del mestre de cant. Salm de David. Quan vingué a trobar-lo el profeta Natan, després d’haver-se unit amb Betsabé.) Apiada’t de mi, oh Déu, segons la teva misericòrdia; segons la teva gran tendresa, esborra les meves culpes.

Renta’m ben bé de la meva maldat, i purifica’m del meu pecat.
3
Prou reconec les meves culpes, i el meu pecat el tinc sempre davant meu.
4
Contra tu he pecat, especialment contra tu, i he comès allò que és dolent als teus ulls; per això ets ben just en la teva sentència, íntegre en el teu judici.
5
Tanmateix, ja vaig néixer dolent, i la meva mare m’engendrà peca-dor.
6
Tanmateix, tu vols la sinceritat al fons del cor, i en la interioritat m’has fet penetrar la saviesa.
7
Purifica’m amb hisop, i quedaré net, renta’m, i quedaré més blanc que la neu.
8
Deixa’m sentir el goig i l’alegria, i exultaran els ossos que vas es-clafar.
9
Aparta la mirada dels meus pecats, i esborra totes les meves culpes.
10
Crea en mi, oh Déu, un cor ben pur, i renova dintre meu un esperit ben ferm.
11
No m’apartis de la teva presència, ni retiris de mi el teu esperit sant.
12
Retorna’m el goig del teu auxili, i que un esperit benèvol m’afermi.
13
Ensenyaré els teus camins als es-garriats, i tornaran a tu els pecadors.
14
Del delicte de sang, oh Déu, des-lliura-me’n, Déu de la meva salvació! I la meva llengua aclamarà la teva justícia.
15
Senyor, obre els meus llavis, i la meva boca divulgarà la teva lloança.
16
Perquè no et pot satisfer un sa-crifici; ni que t’oferís un holocaust no l’acceptaries.
17
Els sacrificis a Déu són un esperit penedit; un cor contrit i humiliat, oh Déu, no el rebutges.
18
Per la teva bondat afavoreix Sió, reconstrueix les muralles de Jerusalem.
19
Llavors agrairàs els sacrificis legí-tims, l’holocaust i l’ofrena total; llavors oferiran vedells damunt el teu altar.
