(Maskil. D’Assaf.) Oh, Déu, per què ens rebutges permanentment i estàs furiós contra el ramat del teu pasturatge?

Recorda la teva comunitat, que des de temps antics vas fer-la teva, la que tu vas redimir com a tribu del teu heretatge; aquest mont de Sió, on tens la teva estada.
3
Vine a veure les ruïnes permanents, tot el que ha malmès l’enemic al santuari.
4
Els teus enemics han victorejat dins del recinte de les teves congre-gacions, hi han plantat les seves divises per distintiu.
5
S’han presentat com els qui bran-den les destrals entremig del bosc espès;
6
talment així, tot d’una han estellat les portes a cops de mall i de destral.
7
Han calat foc al teu santuari, han profanat el tabernacle del teu nom, derruint-lo.
8
Han dit en el seu interior, tots a l’una: “Cremem tots els llocs consagrats a Déu en el país.”
9
Ja no veiem senyals per a nosaltres, ja no tenim cap profeta; no hi ha qui sàpiga fins quan du-rarà.
10
Fins quan, oh Déu, profanarà l’ad-versari? ¿Ultratjarà l’enemic el teu nom constantment?
11
Per què retires la teva mà, i tens la teva dreta continguda al teu si?
12
Tanmateix, oh Déu, ets el meu rei des de sempre, l’autor de la salvació enmig de la terra.
13
Amb el teu poder vas dividir el mar, vas trencar el cap dels monstres marins;
14
tu vas aixafar els caps del Leviatan, convertint-lo en menjar de les bèsties del desert;
15
tu vas fer brollar la font i el torrent, tu vas dessecar rius inesgotables.
16
Teu és el dia, i també és teva la nit, tu vas establir la lluna i el sol;
17
tu vas delimitar les fites de la terra, tu vas formar l’estiu i l’hivern.
18
Recorda això: l’enemic ha ultratjat el Senyor, i un poble insensat ha blasfemat el teu nom.
19
No lliuris l’ànima de la teva tórtora a l’esparver, no tinguis oblidat tant de temps el viure dels teus afligits.
20
Tingues en compte l’aliança, perquè el malaurat país és ple de cataus de violència.
21
Que l’oprimit no hagi de tornar avergonyit; que l’afligit i el pobre puguin lloar el teu nom!
22
Alça’t, oh Déu, defensa la teva causa, recorda que l’insensat t’injuria constantment!
23
No oblidis la cridòria dels teus adversaris, l’avalot sempre creixent dels qui s’alcen contra tu!
