Zing vrolijk voor God, onze kracht; juich voor de God van Jakob.

Hef psalmgezang aan en laat de tamboerijn horen, de lieflijke harp met de luit.

Blaas op de bazuin bij nieuwemaan, bij vollemaan, op onze feestdag.

Want dit is een verordening in Israël, een bepaling van de God van Jakob.

Hij heeft deze ingesteld tot een getuigenis in Jozef, nadat Hij opgetrokken was tegen het land Egypte. Daar, zei Israël, heb ik een taal gehoord die ik niet verstond.

Maar Mijn volk heeft naar Mijn stem niet geluisterd, Israël is tegenover Mij onwillig geweest.

Daarom gaf Ik hen over aan hun verharde hart, zodat zij in hun eigen opvattingen voortgingen.
14
Och, had Mijn volk naar Mij geluisterd, was Israël in Mijn wegen gegaan!
15
In korte tijd zou Ik hun vijanden onderworpen hebben en Mijn hand gekeerd hebben tegen hun tegenstanders.
16
Wie de HEERE haten, zouden zich geveinsd aan Hem onderworpen hebben; maar hún tijd zou voor eeuwig geweest zijn:
17
Hij zou van de beste tarwe te eten gegeven hebben, ja, Ik zou u verzadigd hebben met honing uit de rots.
