Să nu te mânii niciodată, Pe cei răi – eu te sfătuiesc – Nici nu privi cu jind, vreodată, La cei cari rău-l făptuiesc.
2
Eu sunt cosiți ca iarba – iute – Și repede s-au veștejit, Precum verdeața. Dar tu du-te:
3
Fă bine doar, necontenit, Și umblă în credincioșie. Nădăjduiește-n Dumnezeu Și stai în țară, pe vecie, Iar desfătarea ta, mereu,
4
Să-ți fie Domnul. Ai să vezi Atuncea, că vei căpăta,
5
Când soarta Lui ți-o-ncredințezi, Tot ce-a poftit inima ta. Tu crede doar, căci El lucrează:
6
Dreptatea-ți o să lumineze Și precum soarele-n amiază, Al tău drept o să scânteieze.
7
Taci, înaintea Domnului, Și să îți pui nădejdea-n El. Pe-acela care-n calea lui A izbutit, în nici un fel Să nu te mânii. Ai văzut Că planul rău se împlinește, Așa precum și l-a făcut.
8
Mânia, tu o părăsește; Iuțimea zvârle-o înapoi Și uită dar, de supărare, Căci întristarea, mai apoi, Doar rău să îți aducă, are.
9
Cei răi – cu toții – au să piară, Căci doar cei care-n Dumnezeu Și-au pus nădejdile, în țară Au să trăiască tot mereu.
10
Puțină vreme, iar cel rău, Curând, nu are să mai fie. Pustiu rămâne locul său – De el, nimenea nu mai știe
11
Cei blânzi, țara, o moștenesc Și pace au, necontenit.
12
Cei răi doar planuri născocesc, Față de cel neprihănit Și împotriva lui scrâșnesc,
13
Dar Dumnezeu râde de ei Văzând ceea ce plănuiesc.
14
Sabia își vor trage cei Cari răi sunt – arcu-și încordează – Căci pe sărac, necontenit, Întotdeauna îl vânează Voind să-l vadă nimicit. Cei răi să-njunghie doar vor, Pe cei cari sunt neprihăniți,
15
Dar chiar în inimile lor, De-ale lor săbii sunt loviți, Iar arcurile sunt sfărmate.
16
Cu mult mai mult e prețuit Decât averile-adunate De cei răi, cel neprihănit Cu tot puținul său avut.
17
Zdrobit e brațul celor care Doar lucruri rele au făcut. Neprihănitul, sprijin, are
18
La Dumnezeu. Căci Domnul știe Zilele omului cinstit, Iar moștenirea-i pe vecie Are să țină. Părăsit
19
Sau de rușine-apoi lăsat – Când va veni nenorocirea – El nu va fi, ci-ndestulat Când foametea bântuie firea.
20
Cei răi cu toți-au să dispară – Dușmanii Domnului Ceresc, Precum pășunile-au să piară – Și ca un fum se risipesc.
21
Cel rău, de s-a împrumutat, Nu-nnapoiază; dar frumos, Neprihănitul s-a purtat, Căci dă mereu, fiind milos.
22
Cei care-s binecuvântați De Domnul, țara stăpânesc; Dar cei care sunt blestemați, Prin a fi nimiciți sfârșesc.
23
Întotdeauna întărește Dumnezeu, pașii omului, Dacă plăcere El găsește În lucrul și în calea lui.
24
De se întâmplă ca să cadă, De tot nu va avea să pice, Căci Dumnezeu are să-l vadă Și-ndată are să-l ridice.
25
Tânăr am fost, de mult, odată, Și-acuma am îmbătrânit, Dar n-am văzut eu, niciodată, Pe cel ce-a fost neprihănit Că-n voia sorți-a fost lăsat, Fiind de Domnul părăsit, Și nici pe cei ce i-au urmat, Că pâinea, ei și-ar fi cerșit.
26
Căci cel neprihănit a dat – Milos fiind – iar Dumnezeu, Pe toți cei care i-au urmat, I-a binecuvântat mereu.
27
De rău, mereu, să te ferești. Al tău țel binele să fie. Așa doar ai să dăinuiești În pace-n țară, pe vecie;
28
Fiindcă Dumnezeu iubește Dreptatea, iar pe toți ai Lui, Nicicând El nu îi părăsește: Ei sunt în paza Domnului. Cel rău zdrobit are să fie – Sămânța lui, de-asemenea;
29
Cei buni – în țară – pe vecie, Vor fi stăpâni, șezând în ea.
30
Gura celui neprihănit Va răspândi înțelepciune, Iar limba sa, necontenit, Dreptate numai are-a spune.
31
Având Legea lui Dumnezeu, În inimă neîncetat, El va putea a sta mereu, Pe locul său, neclătinat.
32
Cel rău necontenit pândește Pe cel ce e neprihănit, Căci să-l omoare, el gândește,
33
Dar Domnul nu l-a părăsit În mâna lui; nu-l osândește Când va veni la judecată.
34
În Dumnezeu nădăjduiește, Păzește calea Lui, căci iată, Ai să fii iarăși înălțat, Să stăpânești din nou în țară, Iar cel rău fi-va spulberat Și azvârlit, apoi, afară.
35
Pe cel rău, tare l-am văzut: Copac puternic, înverzit.
36
A doua oară am trecut, Dar dispăruse – a pierit. L-am căutat, dar în zadar, Pentru că nu l-am mai aflat.
37
Acum privește-l așadar, Pe cel care s-a arătat A fi un om neprihănit, În care nu e viclenie: Moștenitori a dobândit Și pace are, pe vecie.
38
Cât despre cei ce-s răzvrătiți, Ei n-au putință de scăpare, Pentru că fi-vor nimiciți. Și tot aceeași soartă are Sămânța lor. Dar cei curați –
39
Cei care sunt neprihăniți – De Dumnezeu vor fi scăpați. De Domnul fi-vor ocrotiți, În vremile de strâmtorare.
40
Sunt izbăviți de Dumnezeu – Dintre cei răi – căci fiecare Și-a pus nădejdea-n El, mereu.
