Encara avui és rebel la meva queixa, tot i que encadeno el meu gemec.

Tant de bo que jo sabés on trobar Déu! M’arribaria fins al seu soli,

exposaria davant d’ell la meva causa, la meva boca s’ompliria d’arguments.

Coneixeria les seves respostes, em faria càrrec de la seva rèplica.

I ell, ¿pledejaria contra mi amb tot el seu poder? No, tan sols m’escoltaria amb atenció.
7
Ell tindria al seu davant un home honrat i jo m’alliberaria per sempre del meu jutge.
8
Però, si vaig a llevant, no hi és; a ponent, no l’hi veig.
9
Si es mou pel nord, no me n’adono; s’amaga cap al sud i no l’albiro.
10
Ell, en canvi, sap per on camino: si em prova en el gresol, en sortiré com l’or.
11
Els meus peus segueixen els seus passos, segueixo el seu camí sense desviar-me.
12
No m’aparto mai dels seus preceptes, guardo sempre al cor els seus decrets.
13
Déu té un parer: ¿qui el pot fer canviar? Ell sempre porta a terme els seus projectes.
14
Ell executarà la sentència que em pertoca, com tantes altres que ha decidit.
15
Per això m’esfereeix la seva presència. Com més hi penso, més por li tinc.
16
Déu m’ha omplert el cor de basarda, el Totpoderós em té esfereït.
17
Encara no m’he perdut en la tenebra, però ell m’ha cobert de foscor.
