Elihú va continuar parlant i digué:
2
¿Et sembla que tens raó quan afirmes que ets més just que Déu,
3
quan li dius: «A tu, poc t’importa, i jo, quin profit en trec, de no pecar?»
4
Doncs jo donaré una resposta a tu i als teus amics.
5
Alça els ulls al cel i guaita, mira els núvols, lluny de tu.
6
Si peques, quin mal causes a Déu? Si multipliques les culpes, què li fas?
7
Si ets just, què li dónes?, què rep de la teva mà?
8
A homes com tu afecta el teu pecat, i quan fas el bé, són els humans qui se’n gaudeixen!
9
Sota el pes de l’opressió, la gent protesta, criden auxili contra el jou dels tirans.
10
Però no diuen: «On és el Déu que ens va fer, que inspira cants dins la nit,
11
el qui ens fa més instruïts que les bèsties de la terra, més savis que els ocells del cel?»
12
La gent crida, però Déu no respon per culpa de l’orgull dels malvats.
13
Ben cert! Déu no escolta raons buides, el Totpoderós no en fa mai cas!
14
Tu, Job, també dius que no te’n fa cas, però ell té present la teva causa i has de tenir esperança.
15
I si dius que no s’indigna i no es fixa en les teves reflexions,
16
sàpigues que no l’encertes, parles però no saps què dius.
