Ó Deus, dá ouvidos à minha oração e não te escondas da minha súplica.

Atende-me e ouve-me. Estou perturbado e ando perplexo,
3
por causa do clamor do inimigo e da opressão do ímpio; pois agem contra mim com maldade e me perseguem com furor.
4
Meu coração dispara dentro de mim, e o pavor da morte me domina.
5
Temor e tremor me sobrevêm, e o horror toma conta de mim.
6
Por isso, eu disse: Ah! Quem me dera ter asas como de pomba! Eu voaria e encontraria descanso.
7
Fugiria para longe e me esconderia no deserto. [Interlúdio]

E logo me protegeria da fúria do vento e da tempestade.
9
Senhor, confunde-os, frustra o que falam, pois vejo violência e conflito na cidade.
10
Dia e noite andam ao seu redor, em torno de seus muros; violência e maldade também estão no meio dela.
11
Há destruição no seu interior; opressão e fraude não se afastam das suas ruas.
12
Não é um inimigo que me afronta; isso eu poderia suportar. Nem é um adversário que me menospreza, porque dele eu poderia me esconder.
13
Mas és tu, meu colega, meu companheiro e amigo chegado.
14
Juntos tivemos momentos agradáveis; caminhávamos com a multidão para a casa de Deus.
15
Que a morte os assalte e desçam vivos ao Sheol; porque na sua morada e no seu íntimo há maldade.
16
Mas eu invocarei a Deus, e o Senhor me salvará.
17
À tarde, de manhã e ao meio-dia me queixarei e me lamentarei; e ele ouvirá minha voz.
18
Em paz livrará minha vida dos que me perseguem; pois há muitos que lutam contra mim.
19
Deus ouvirá; aquele que está entronizado desde a antiguidade lhes responderá. [Interlúdio] Porque eles não mudam de ideia nem temem a Deus.
20
Aquele meu companheiro levantou a mão contra os que viviam em paz com ele; quebrou o que havia tratado.
21
O seu falar era macio como manteiga, mas havia rancor em seu coração; suas palavras eram mais brandas do que azeite, mas eram como espadas desembainhadas.
22
Entrega tuas ansiedades ao Senhor, e ele te dará sustentação; nunca permitirá que o justo seja abalado.
23
Mas tu, ó Deus, os farás descer ao poço da perdição; criminosos e traiçoeiros não viverão a metade dos seus dias; mas eu confiarei em ti.
