Meu Deus, livra-me dos meus inimigos; protege-me daqueles que se levantam contra mim.

Livra-me dos que praticam a maldade e salva-me dos homens sanguinários.

Eles armam ciladas contra mim; os fortes conspiram contra mim, Senhor, sem que haja em mim transgressão ou pecado.
4
Eles se apressam em me atacar sem que eu tenha culpa. Desperta para me ajudares e olha para mim.
5
Tu, Senhor, Deus dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel, desperta para punir todas as nações! Não tenhas misericórdia de nenhum dos traidores perversos. [Interlúdio]

Eles voltam à tarde, uivam como cães e andam rondando a cidade.
7
Eles gritam, e seus lábios são como espada, pois pensam: Quem ouvirá?
8
Mas tu, Senhor, te rirás deles; zombarás de todas as nações.
9
Esperarei em ti, força minha; pois Deus é meu alto refúgio.
10
O meu Deus virá ao meu encontro com seu amor fiel. Deus me fará ver cumprido o meu desejo sobre meus inimigos.
11
Não os mates, para que meu povo não se esqueça; espalha-os com o teu poder e abate-os, ó Senhor, escudo nosso.
12
Pelo pecado da sua boca e pelas palavras dos seus lábios fiquem presos na sua arrogância. Pelas maldições e mentiras que proferem,

consome-os na tua indignação; consome-os, para que deixem de existir; para que saibam que Deus reina sobre Jacó, até os confins da terra. [Interlúdio]

Eles voltam à tarde, uivam como cães e andam rondando a cidade;
15
vagueiam em busca do que comer e se queixam se não se fartam.
16
Eu, porém, cantarei a tua força; pela manhã, louvarei com alegria teu amor fiel, pois me tens sido fortaleza e refúgio no dia da minha angústia.
17
Cantarei louvores a ti, força minha! Porque Deus é minha fortaleza, é o Deus que me mostra seu amor fiel.
