Cantai alegremente a Deus, nossa fortaleza; erguei vozes alegres ao Deus de Jacó.

Entoai um salmo e fazei soar o tamborim, a harpa suave e o saltério.

Tocai a trombeta na lua nova, na lua cheia, no dia da nossa festa.

Pois esse é um estatuto para Israel, uma ordenança do Deus de Jacó.

Ele o ordenou como lei a José, quando atacou a terra do Egito. Ouvi uma voz que não conhecia, dizendo:

Livrei o peso do seu ombro; suas mãos ficaram livres dos cestos.
7
Na angústia clamaste, e te livrei; eu te respondi do meio dos trovões; coloquei-te à prova junto às águas de Meribá. [Interlúdio]

Meu povo, ouve-me e eu te advertirei; ah, Israel, se apenas me escutasses!
9
Não haja no meio de ti deus estranho, nem te prostres perante um deus estrangeiro.
10
Eu sou o Senhor, teu Deus, que te tirei da terra do Egito; abre bem a tua boca, e eu a encherei.
11
Mas meu povo não ouviu minha voz, e Israel não quis saber de mim.
12
Por isso, eu os entreguei à teimosia de coração, para que andassem segundo seus próprios conselhos.
13
Ah, se o meu povo me escutasse! Ah, se Israel andasse nos meus caminhos!
14
Logo eu derrotaria seus inimigos e voltaria minha mão contra seus adversários.
15
Os que odeiam o Senhor se entregariam a ele e permaneceriam assim para sempre.
16
E eu te sustentaria com o trigo mais fino e te saciaria com o mel tirado da rocha.
