Een psalm van David. O HEERE, ik roep U aan, kom snel bij mij, luister naar mijn stem als ik tot U roep.

Mag mijn gebed als reukwerk voor uw aangezicht staan, het opheffen van mijn handen als het avondoffer.

HEERE, zet een wachter voor mijn mond, bewaak de deur van mijn lippen.
4
Neig mijn hart niet tot een slechte zaak, om misdaden te begaan met mannen die onrecht doen, laat mij niet van hun lekkernijen eten.
5
Laat de rechtvaardige mij slaan, want dat is liefdevolle trouw. Bestraft hij mij, het is olie op het hoofd, mijn hoofd zal niet weigeren. Ja, ook dan is mijn gebed nog gericht tegen hun slechte daden.

Hun rechters werden langs de rots neergeworpen, zij hoorden dat mijn uitspraken aangenaam waren.

Onze beenderen liggen verstrooid bij de mond van het dodenrijk, alsof iemand het land omgeploegd en opengereten heeft.

Maar mijn ogen zijn op U gericht, HEERE, mijn Heer, ik schuil bij U, laat mijn ziel niet naakt daar achter.
9
Bescherm mij voor de greep van de strik die zij voor mij hebben uitgezet, voor de valstrikken van hen die onrecht doen.
10
Laat de boosdoeners samen in hun eigen netten vallen, terwijl ik eraan voorbijga.
