Een psalm van David. O HEERE! hoor mijn gebed, luister naar mijn smekingen. Antwoord mij naar uw waarheid, naar uw gerechtigheid.
2
Ga geen rechtszaak aan met uw dienaar, want niemand die leeft, is rechtvaardig voor uw aangezicht.
3
Want de vijand vervolgt mijn ziel, hij vertrapt mijn leven ter aarde, hij doet mij wonen in duistere plaatsen, net als hen die al lang dood zijn.
4
Mijn geest bezweek in mij, mijn hart is ontzet in mijn binnenste.
5
Ik denk aan de dagen van vroeger, ik overpeins al uw daden, ik overdenk de werken van uw handen.
6
Ik spreid mijn handen naar U uit, mijn ziel ligt als een dorstig land voor U. Sela.
7
Antwoord mij toch snel, o HEERE, mijn geest bezwijkt, verberg uw aangezicht niet voor mij, want dan zou ik gelijk worden aan hen die in de graf kuil dalen.
8
Laat mij in de morgen uw liefdevolle trouw horen, want ik vertrouw op U. Maak mij de weg bekend, die ik moet gaan, want ik hef mijn ziel op naar U.
9
O HEERE, ruk mij weg van mijn vijanden, bij U schuil ik.
10
Leer mij te doen wat U behaagt, want U bent mijn GOD. Laat uw goede Geest mij leiden door een vlak land.
11
O HEERE, maak mij levend omwille van uw Naam. Leid mijn ziel uit de benauwdheid in uw gerechtigheid,
12
vernietig mijn vijanden in uw liefdevolle trouw, breng allen om die mijn ziel benauwen, want ik ben uw dienaar.
