[Ty] obracasz człowieka w proch, [Ty] mówisz: Wracajcie, synowie ludzcy!

Gdyż tysiąc lat w Twoich oczach Jest jak dzień wczorajszy, już miniony, I jak warta nocnej straży.

Porywasz ich [jak nurt powodzi], są jak sen o poranku, Jak trawa, co przemija:

Rano kwitnie i dojrzewa, Pod wieczór więdnie i usycha.

Oto wszystkie nasze dni gasną przy Twoim wzburzeniu, Nasze lata ulatują jak westchnienie.

Nasze dni rozciągają się na lat siedemdziesiąt, A jeżeli starczy sił, to na lat osiemdziesiąt. Co ich chlubą? Trud i znój. Tak. Szybko przemijają, a my – odlatujemy.

Kto zna moc Twojego gniewu I [przejęty] Twą bojaźnią, Twoje uniesienie?

Dobrze liczyć nasze dni – o, tego nas naucz, A doprowadzimy [nasze] serca do mądrości!

Zawróć, JHWH! Jak długo jeszcze? I zmiłuj się nad swoimi sługami!

Nasyć nas już rano swoją łaską, A będziemy się radować i weselić przez wszystkie nasze dni!

Rozwesel nas w zamian za dni naszego upokorzenia, Za lata oglądania niedoli!

Niech nad Twoimi sługami ukaże się Twe dzieło I Twój majestat nad ich synami!

Niech nam wzejdzie przychylność Pana, naszego Boga, I dzieło naszych rąk utwierdzaj nad nami! I dzieło naszych rąk utwierdź nam!
