Ýahuda patyşasy Ýoşyýanyň ogly Ýehoýakymyň şalygynyň dördünji ýylynda Neriýanyň ogly Baruk Ýermeýanyň dilinden şu sözleri kitaba ýazyp otyrka, Ýermeýa pygamberiň oňa aýdan sözi:

«Eý, Baruk! Ysraýyl Hudaýy Reb saňa şeýle diýýär:

Sen: „Dat günüme! Çünki Reb derdime gaýgy-hasrat goşdy, ahy-nalamdan ýaňa tapdan düşdüm, rahatlyk tapmaýaryn“ diýdiň».

Reb Baruga şeýle diýýär diýip aýt: «Ine, tutuş ýer ýüzünde dikenimi ýykaryn, ekenimi sogrup taşlaryn.

Neçün sen özüňe çendenaşa köp soraýarsyň? Sorama, çünki Men bütin adamzadyň başyndan betbagtlyk indererin. Muny Reb aýdýandyr. Emma nirä gitseň-de, sylag hökmünde janyňy aman saklaryn».
