Taaveti laul. Tänatud olgu Issand, mu kalju, kes õpetab mu käsi lahinguks ja mu sõrmi sõjaks,

tema, kes on mu heldus ja mu mäelinnus, mu kindel varjupaik ja mu päästja, minu kilp ja see, kelle juures ma pelgupaika otsin; ta alistab minule mu rahva.

Oh Issand! Mis on inimene, et sa tahad teda tunda? Mis on inimlaps, et sa paned teda tähele?
4
Inimene on tuuleõhu sarnane: tema päevad on nagu mööduv vari.
5
Issand, kalluta oma taevaid ja tule alla, puuduta mägesid, et need suitseksid!
6
Löö välku ja pilluta nad laiali, läkita oma nooled ja peleta neid!
7
Siruta oma käed ülalt, päästa ja tõmba mind välja suurest veest, võõramaa laste käest,
8
kelle suu räägib tühja ja kelle parem käsi on valetaja käsi!
9
Jumal, ma laulan sulle uue laulu! Ma mängin kümnekeelsel naablil sinule,
10
kes annad abi kuningaile, kes päästsid oma sulase Taaveti kurja mõõga eest.
11
Päästa mind ja vabasta mind võõramaa laste käest, kelle suu räägib tühja ja kelle parem käsi on valetaja käsi,
12
et meie pojad oleksid noorpõlves nagu hästi kasvatatud taimed, ja meie tütred nagu templi ehituses ilusasti voolitud nurgasambad,
13
et meie aidad oleksid täis ning annaksid iga liiki vilja, et meie lambakari kasvaks tuhandekordseks ja kümne tuhande kordseks meie nurmedel,

et meie veised oleksid tiined, et ei juhtuks kahju ega kaotust, et ei oleks hädakisa meie tänavatel!

Õnnis on rahvas, kelle käsi nõnda käib. Õnnis on rahvas, kelle Jumal on Issand.
