Aasafi õpetuslaul. Miks sa, Jumal, oled meid ära heitnud jäädavalt? Miks suitseb su viha su karjamaa lammaste vastu?

Mõtle oma kogudusele, mille sa muiste oled enesele asutanud ja oma pärandi jaoks lunastanud, Siioni mäele, kus sina asud!

Tõsta oma sammud nendele igavestele varemetele, vaenlane on kõik rikkunud pühamus!

Su vastased möirgasid su kohtumishoones, nad on oma tähised pannud tähisteks.

Näis, nagu oleksid nad kirveid kõrgele tõstnud metsarägastikus.

Nii lõid nad puruks kiinide ja haamritega kõik selle nikerdused.

Nad on su pühamu süüdanud tulega põlema, su nime eluaseme on nad reostanud maani.

Sina purustasid Leviatani pead, sa andsid need söögiks meresõitjale rahvale.

Sina lõhkusid allikad ja jõed, sina tegid voolavad jõed kuivaks.

Sinu päralt on päev ja öögi on sinu päralt, sina oled valmistanud valguse ja päikese.

Sina oled seadnud kõik ilmamaa rajad, suve ja talve oled sina teinud.

Mõtle sellele! Vaenlane teotab Issandat ja jõle rahvas laimab su nime.

Ära anna oma tuvikese hinge kiskjate kätte, ära unusta oma viletsate elu jäädavalt!

Vaata oma lepingule! Sest pimedad maanurgad on täis vägivalda.

Ära lase rõhutuid tulla häbiga tagasi, viletsad ja vaesed kiitku sinu nime!

Tõuse, Jumal, seleta oma riiuasi, mõtle teotamisele, mis kogu päeva tuleb jõledalt mehelt!

Ära unusta oma vastaste kisa, nende möll, kes sulle vastu hakkavad, kohub suuremaks alatasa!
