Vir die leier van die koor: 'n Psalm van Dawid.

O God, U moet luister, ek vra dat U my moet help. Ek is bang vir my vyande, U moet my lewe red.

Slegte mense maak planne teen my, U moet my beskerm teen hulle, teen die mense wat my haat en slegte dinge doen.
4
Die dinge wat hulle sê, is soos skerp swaarde. Hulle woorde is so giftig soos gifpyle.
5
Hulle sit op plekke waar niemand hulle sien nie en hulle skiet 'n eerlike mens wat nie dink dat hulle dit sal doen nie. Hulle skiet hom en hulle is nie bang nie.

Hulle hou aan om slegte dinge te doen, hulle sê vir mekaar hoe hulle 'n vangstrik kan neersit. Hulle dink niemand sien hulle nie

en niemand kan uitvind watter slegte dinge hulle wil doen nie. Hulle sê: “Ons het planne gemaak, niemand weet daarvan nie. Niemand weet wat 'n mens dink nie.”
8
Maar God sal hulle skiet met sy pyl wanneer hulle nie dink dat Hy dit sal doen nie. Hy sal raakskiet.
9
Die dinge wat hulle gesê het, sal met hulleself gebeur, en elkeen wat vir hulle kyk, sal skrik en weghardloop.
10
Al die mense sal bang word en hulle sal vertel wat God gedoen het, hulle sal sy werk verstaan.
11
Die mense wat reg doen, sal bly wees omdat hulle aan God behoort, en hulle sal vir Hom vra om hulle te beskerm. Die mense wat eerlik is, sal Hom prys.
