„Doamne, plătește-le Tu celor care sunt în conflict cu mine! Luptă-te cu cei care se luptă cu mine!
2
Înarmează-Te cu scut și cu protecție pentru corp! Ridică-Te, ca să îmi ajuți!
3
Scoate-Ți lancea și acționează împotriva persecutorilor mei! Spune sufletului meu: «Eu sunt salvarea ta!»
4
Fă să le fie rușine. Umilește-i pe cei care intenționează să îmi ia viața. Să fie determinați să se retragă; și să le fie astfel rușine celor care planificau să (-mi) facă ce este rău!
5
Ei să ajungă să fie ca pleava luată de vânt; și să îi alunge îngerul lui Iahve!
6
Drumul lor să fie întunecos și alunecos; iar îngerul lui Iahve să îi urmărească!
7
Au pus în secret o capcană pentru mine, fără să aibă vreun motiv; și au săpat o groapă sufletului meu.
8
Din această cauză, să îi ajungă dezastrul în mod surprinzător; și să fie prinși în capcana pe care au instalat-o pentru mine. Să cadă în ea în timpul dezastrului.
9
Atunci sufletul meu se va bucura în Iahve; și voi fi vesel de mântuirea Lui.
10
Întreaga mea ființă va exclama: «Doamne, cine este ca Tine capabil să îl salveze pe omul sărac de acela care avea o forță mai mare decât el? Tu îl ajuți pe cel sărac și fără ajutor, scăpându-l de jefuitorul lui!»
11
Niște martori vin în forță și mă întreabă despre lucruri pe care nu le cunosc.
12
Astfel, ei mă recompensează cu rău pentru binele pe care li l-am făcut; și îmi devastează sufletul.
13
Și totuși, când ei erau bolnavi, eu mă îmbrăcam cu sac și sufletul meu era modest în timp ce posteam (pentru ei). Când rugăciunile mele nu primeau răspuns,
14
mă comportam (cu ei) ca un prieten și chiar ca un frate. Umblam plângând, ca unul care își bocește mama. Stăteam cu capul plecat, afectat de întristare.
15
Dar acum când am ajuns eu în dificultate și mă împiedic, ei se bucură și se adună ca să discute împotriva mea. Îmi dau lovituri în secret. Sunt continuu atacat de ei.
16
Își freacă dinții și se manifestă vorbind cu desconsiderare împotriva mea!
17
Doamne, cât vei mai privi la ei (fără să intervii în favoarea mea)? Scapă-mi sufletul de distrugerile lor și salvează viața mea de acești pui de lei; pentru că este o viață care are valoare!
18
Apoi Te voi lăuda în marea adunare, Te voi onora în mijlocul unui popor (format din oameni) fără număr.
19
Să nu aibă ocazia să se bucure de mine aceia care în mod nedrept mă dușmănesc; și să nu poată privi cu aroganță la mine cei care mă urăsc fără motiv!
20
Ei nu vorbesc de pace; și concep numai lucruri (rele și) neadevărate despre oamenii liniștiți care locuiesc în țară.
21
Vorbesc împotriva mea, zicând: «Ha! Ha! Ochii noștri și-au văzut dorința satisfăcută!»
22
Doamne, Tu ai văzut (ce fac ei); nu tăcea! Stăpâne, nu Te îndepărta de mine!
23
Ridică-Te! Trezește-Te și acționează pentru apărarea mea. Susține-mi cauza – Tu care ești Dumnezeul și Stăpânul meu!
24
Judecă-mă în acord cu dreptatea Ta; pentru că Tu, Doamne, ești Dumnezeul meu! Nu le permite să se bucure de mine!
25
Să nu gândească: «Aha! Foarte bine!» Să nu zică: «L-am înghițit!»
26
Să fie afectați de rușine și să ajungă de râs toți oamenii care se bucură de necazul meu! Să se îmbrace cu rușine și cu dezonoare aceia care s-au declarat împotriva mea!
27
Să strige de bucurie și să se veselească oamenii care agreează dreptatea mea. Ei sunt cei care spun mereu: «Iahve să fie onorat; pentru că El dorește pacea sclavului Său!»
28
Atunci limba mea va proclama dreptatea Ta; și Te va lăuda toată ziua!”
