Doamne, Dumnezeul salvării mele, atât ziua cât și noaptea strig după ajutor înaintea Ta.
2
Să ajungă rugăciunea mea înaintea Ta! Apleacă-Ți urechea la cererea mea!

Mi s-a săturat sufletul de atâtea necazuri; și viața mea a ajuns aproape de locuința morților.
4
Sunt pus între cei care coboară în groapă. Am ajuns ca un bărbat fără forță.
5
Sunt abandonat printre morți – așa cum se întâmplă celor înjunghiați, care au coborât în mormânt. Sunt ca aceia de care nu Îți mai amintești niciodată și care sunt îndepărtați din mâna Ta.

M-ai așezat în cea mai adâncă groapă, în locuri întunecoase, la mare adâncime.

Ți-ai adus mânia peste mine. M-ai înconjurat cu toate valurile Tale.
8
Ai îndepărtat de mine pe cei care mă cunoșteau. M-ai făcut să fiu ceva oribil pentru ei. Sunt închis, fără șansă de scăpare!
9
Din cauza necazului, ochiul meu vede cu mare dificultate. Strig spre Tine, Doamne; în fiecare zi. Îmi întind mâinile spre Tine.

Oare Tu faci minuni pentru cei morți? Vin sufletele morților (înapoi) ca să Te laude?
11
Oare în mormânt se povestește despre bunătatea Ta și în locul de distrugere se relatează despre consecvența caracterului Tău?
12
Oare miracolele Tale sunt cunoscute în întuneric și dreptatea Ta are admiratori pe teritoriul uitării?
13
Dar eu, Doamne, Ție Îți cer ajutorul; și de când apare lumina zilei Te întâmpin cu rugăciunea mea!
14
Doamne, de ce mi-ai abandonat sufletul și Ți-ai ascuns fața de mine?
15
Încă din tinerețe am fost nefericit și aproape de moarte! M-am tot speriat de ce ai permis Tu să mi se întâmple; și am fost dezamăgit (de mulți oameni).
16
Mânia Ta a trecut peste mine. Frica pe care mi-au produs-o deciziile Tale, m-a extenuat.
17
Ea mă înconjoară toată ziua ca niște ape, înfășurându-se în jurul meu.
18
I-ai îndepărtat de la mine pe cei care mă cunoșteau, pe prietenii mei, pe cei care altă dată erau aproape de mine. Sunt în întuneric!
