“Això diu el Senyor, el Déu d’Israel, referent a tu, Baruc:

Tu has dit: Pobre de mi! El Senyor afegeix pena al meu dolor! Estic cansat de gemegar i no puc trobar descans!

Però tu, Jeremies, li has de dir: Això diu el Senyor: Mira, jo enruno el que jo mateix havia edificat i arrenco el que jo mateix havia plantat, i ho faig arreu de la terra.

¿I tu busques el benefici personal? No el busquis; perquè heus aquí que aboco la desgràcia sobre tot mortal — diu el Senyor —; però a tu et concedeixo la prò-pia vida com a botí rescatat, en qual-sevol lloc on tu vagis”.
