Revelació del Senyor que fou adreçada al profeta Jeremies referent als filisteus, abans que el faraó s’apoderés de Gaza.

Això diu el Senyor: “Heus aquí que ve una crescuda d’aigües des del nord que es convertirà en un torrent desbor-dat; inundaran la terra i tot el que hi ha, les ciutats i els seus habitants. Els homes clamaran, i tots els habitants del país gemegaran

per l’estrepitós galop dels seus ca-valls, el brogit dels seus carros i el re-truny de les seves rodes. Els pares no poden ajudar els seus fills, pel defa-lliment dels seus braços.

El dia de la devastació ha arribat per a tots els filisteus, per privar Tir i Sidó de tots els aliats que encara els queden; perquè el Senyor destruirà els filisteus, els immigrats de l’illa de Caftor.

A Gaza li ha tocat rapar-se, Ascaló ha quedat en silenci, amb la resta de les seves valls. ¿Fins quan et faràs incisions?

Ai, espasa del Senyor! ¿Fins quan no reposaràs? Replega’t a la teva beina, descansa i tingues calma.
7
Com podràs estar-te quieta? El Senyor li ha donat ordres contra Ascaló i el litoral de la costa: allà l’ha destinada!”
