Ein salme av Asaf. Gud, folka har trengt seg inn på din eigedom. Dei har gjort ditt heilage tempel ureint og lagt Jerusalem i røys.

Lika av tenarane dine har dei gjeve til føde for himmelens fuglar og kjøtet av dine trugne til villdyra på jorda.

Dei har aust ut blodet deira som vatn omkring Jerusalem, og det er ingen som gravlegg dei.

Vi har vorte til hån for grannane, til spott for dei som bur omkring oss.

Kor lenge, HERRE? Vil du vera harm for alltid? Kor lenge skal din lidenskap brenna som eld?

Aus vreiden ut over folkeslag som ikkje kjenner deg, over kongerike som ikkje kallar på ditt namn.

For dei har slukt Jakob og lagt hans bustad i øyde.

Tilrekna oss ikkje gamle synder! Skund deg, lat di medkjensle møta oss! For vi er langt nede.

Hjelp oss, Gud, vår frelsar, så namnet ditt blir æra! Fri oss ut og tilgjev våre synder for ditt namn skuld.

Kvifor skal folka seia: «Kvar er deira Gud?» Lat våre auge sjå og folka kjenna at du hemnar blodet frå dine tenarar.

Lat sukket frå fangane nå deg; din arm er sterk, spar dei som skulle døy!

Herre, gjev grannane våre tilbake i fanget sju gonger den spotten dei rette mot deg.

Men vi er ditt folk, den flokken du gjeter. Vi vil lova deg til evig tid, lovprisa deg frå slekt til slekt.
