Cântico das peregrinações.*Senhor, lembra-te de David e dos seus múltiplos trabalhos;
2
do juramento que fez ao Senhor e do voto que fez ao Deus de Jacob:
3
«Não entrarei na minha tenda nem me deitarei no meu leito de descanso,
4
não deixarei dormir os meus olhos nem descansar as minhas pálpebras,
5
enquanto não encontrar um lugar para o Senhor, uma morada para o Deus poderoso de Jacob.»
6
Ouvimos dizer que a Arca estava em Efrata; fomos encontrá-la nos campos de Jaar.
7
Entremos na morada do Senhor ! Prostremo-nos diante do estrado de seus pés!
8
Levanta-te, Senhor, e entra no teu repouso, Tu e a Arca do teu poder!
9
Revistam-se de justiça os teus sacerdotes e os teus fiéis exultem de alegria.
10
Por amor de David, teu servo, não desvies o teu rosto do teu ungido.
11
O Senhor fez um juramento a David, uma promessa a que não faltará: «Hei-de colocar no teu trono um descendente da tua família.
12
Se os teus filhos guardarem a minha aliança e os preceitos que lhes hei-de ensinar, também os filhos deles se hão-de sentar para sempre no teu trono.»
13
O Senhor escolheu Sião, preferiu-a para sua morada:
14
«Este será para sempre o meu lugar de repouso, aqui habitarei, porque o escolhi.
15
Abençoarei com abundância os seus celeiros, saciarei de pão os seus pobres;
16
revestirei de esplendor os seus sacerdotes e os seus fiéis hão-de gritar de alegria.
17
Ali farei surgir descendência para David e farei brilhar a luz do meu ungido.
18
Cobrirei de vergonha os seus inimigos, mas sobre ele farei brilhar o seu diadema.»
