O Senhor escolheu para si Jacob, e Israel, para seu domínio preferido.

Eu sei que o Senhor é grande; o nosso Deus é maior que todos os deuses.

Pois tudo o que o Senhor quer, Ele o faz: no céu e na terra, nos mares e nos abismos.

Faz subir as nuvens das extremidades da terra, com os relâmpagos faz cair a chuva e retira os ventos dos seus reservatórios.

Foi Ele que feriu os primogénitos do Egipto, tanto dos homens como dos animais.

Fez maravilhas e prodígios no meio de ti, ó Egipto, para castigar o Faraó e todos os seus servos.

Foi Ele que derrotou as grandes nações e matou reis poderosos:

Seon, rei dos amorreus, e Og, rei de Basan, e todos os reis de Canaã.

E entregou a terra deles como herança, como herança a Israel, seu povo.

O teu nome, Senhor, permanece para sempre; a tua lembrança, por todas as gerações.

O Senhor defende a causa do seu povo e terá compaixão dos seus servos.

Os ídolos dos gentios não passam de ouro e prata; são obra das mãos do homem.

Têm boca, mas não falam; têm olhos, mas não vêem;

têm ouvidos, mas não ouvem; nem sequer há respiração na sua boca.

Sejam iguais a eles, os que os fazem e todos os que neles confiam.
