Ó Senhor, Deus vingador, ó Deus vingador, manifesta-te!

Levanta-te, ó juiz da Terra, dá aos soberbos o castigo que merecem.
3
Até quando é que os ímpios, Senhor, até quando é que os ímpios triunfarão?
4
Estão cheios de palavras insolentes, todos os malfeitores se vangloriam da iniquidade!
5
Esmagam o teu povo, Senhor, e espezinham a tua herança.
6
Matam a viúva e o estrangeiro e assassinam os órfãos.
7
Eles dizem: «O Senhor não vê, o Deus de Jacob não dá por isso!»
8
Reflecti, ó gente imbecil! E vós, insensatos, quando ganhareis juízo?
9
Porventura, quem fez o ouvido não ouvirá? Aquele que fez os olhos não há-de ver?
10
Aquele que corrige as nações, não castigará? Se é Ele quem ensina aos homens a ciência!...

O Senhor conhece bem os pensamentos dos homens e sabe que são completamente vazios.
12
Ó Senhor, feliz o homem a quem tu corriges e instruis na tua lei!
13
Esse terá descanso nos dias maus, enquanto se abre a cova para o ímpio.
14
O Senhor não abandona o seu povo nem despreza a sua herança.
15
De novo há-de voltar a haver justiça, e hão-de segui-la todos os de coração recto.
16
Quem se levantará por mim contra os malfeitores? Quem será meu defensor contra os que praticam o mal?
17
Se o Senhor não fosse o meu auxílio, em breve eu estaria a morar com os mortos.
18
Quando digo: «Os meus pés vacilam», logo a tua bondade, Senhor, me ampara.
19
Quando se avolumam as angústias dentro em mim, as tuas consolações confortam a minha alma.
20
Poderão aliar-se a ti os juízes injustos, que forjam a intriga contra o direito?
21
Atentam contra a vida do justo e condenam o sangue inocente.
22
Mas o Senhor é o meu refúgio, o meu Deus é o rochedo que me protege.
23
Fará recair sobre eles os seus crimes e os destruirá com a sua própria maldade. O Senhor, nosso Deus, os destruirá!
