Salmo. De Asaf.* Como Deus é bom para Israel, para os que têm coração puro!

Ai de mim! Os meus pés estavam quase a resvalar, por um triz não escorreguei,

ao sentir inveja dos ímpios, ao ver a prosperidade dos maus.

Para eles não há aflições mortais, os seus corpos são robustos e sadios.
5
Não sofrem as contrariedades da vida, nem são atormentados como os outros homens.

Por isso, enchem-se de orgulho e ataviam-se com o manto da violência.
7
A maldade brota-lhes do coração; do seu coração transbordam más intenções.
8
Zombam e falam com malícia; falam com altivez e oprimem.
9
Com a boca protestam contra o céu e a sua língua percorre a terra.
10
Por isso, os seus seguidores se voltam para eles e bebem tudo como se fosse água.

Eles dizem: «Deus não sabe disto; o Altíssimo não é conhecedor de nada.»

São assim os pecadores: sempre tranquilos e a amontoar riquezas!

De nada me serve ter um coração puro e conservar inocentes as minhas mãos!
14
Sou posto à prova a toda a hora; todas as manhãs sou castigado.

Se eu pensasse: «Vou falar como eles», atraiçoaria a geração dos teus filhos.

Reflecti sobre estas coisas para as entender, mas foi muito penoso para mim.

Só quando entrei no santuário de Deus, compreendi o fim que os espera.

Na verdade, Tu os colocas em plano escorregadio e os empurras para a desgraça.

Num momento, ficarão destruídos! Acabarão transidos de pavor!
20
Como quando alguém desperta de um sonho, quando te levantares, Senhor, desprezarás a sua imagem.
21
Outrora, o meu coração exasperava-se e consumiam-se as minhas entranhas.
22
Eu era um louco, sem entendimento, como um animal na tua presença.
23
No entanto, estive sempre contigo, e Tu me conduziste pela mão;
24
guiaste-me com o teu conselho e, por fim, me receberás na tua glória.
25
Quem mais tenho eu no céu? Na terra só desejo estar contigo.

Ainda que o meu corpo e o meu coração desfaleçam, Deus será sempre o meu refúgio e a minha herança.

Hão-de perder-se os que se afastam de ti; Tu exterminas os que te renegam.
28
Para mim, a felicidade é estar perto de Deus. Em ti, Senhor D, pus a minha confiança, para proclamar todas as tuas obras.
