Aquele que habita sob a protecção do Altíssimo e mora à sombra do Omnipotente,

pode exclamar: «Senhor, Tu és o meu refúgio, a minha cidadela, o meu Deus, em quem confio!»

Ele há-de livrar-te da armadilha do caçador e do flagelo maligno.
4
Ele te cobrirá com as suas penas; debaixo das suas asas encontrarás refúgio; a sua fidelidade é escudo e couraça.
5
Não temerás o terror da noite, nem da seta que voa de dia,
6
nem da peste que alastra nas trevas, nem do flagelo que mata em pleno dia.
7
Podem cair mil à tua esquerda e dez mil à tua direita, mas tu não serás atingido.
8
Basta abrires os olhos, para veres a recompensa dos ímpios.
9
Pois disseste: «O Senhor é o meu único refúgio!» Fizeste do Altíssimo o teu auxílio.
10
Por isso, nenhum mal te acontecerá, nenhuma epidemia chegará à tua tenda.
11
É que Ele deu ordens aos seus anjos, para que te guardem em todos os teus caminhos.
12
Eles hão-de elevar-te na palma das mãos, para que não tropeces em nenhuma pedra.
13
Poderás caminhar sobre serpentes e víboras, calcar aos pés leões e dragões.
14
«Porque acreditou em mim, hei-de salvá-lo; hei-de defendê-lo, porque conheceu o meu nome.
15
Quando me invocar, hei-de responder-lhe; estarei a seu lado na tribulação, para o salvar e encher de honras.
16
Hei-de recompensá-lo com longos dias e mostrar-lhe a minha salvação.»
